Savannah is the Advocacy Coordinator at San Diego Bird Alliance, a conservation nonprofit that defends the region's birds, unique biodiversity, and threatened habitats. She coordinates key conservation initiatives including ReWild Mission Bay and Lights Out San Diego while mobilizing conservation volunteers and leading an annual advocacy training Earth Advocates. She is passionate about storytelling and connecting community members with ways to enjoy and protect the natural spaces they love.
Originally from rural North Carolina, Savannah earned her Bachelor's degree in Environmental and Ocean Sciences with a minor in Political Science from the University of San Diego. After receiving her degree she served in Americorps as a California Climate Action Corps Fellow focusing on native habitats community engagement and event coordination. As the Coordinator of Camp Surfbird she developed and launched this innovative youth birding program during the San Diego Bird Festival to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
In her free time Savannah is a ceramic artist creating work using foraged clay and natural materials. Her dog Ponzu and cat Roo have learned to appreciate birds from a respectful distance.
