Shukky Sanni (she/her)

Shukky Sanni began her state service career with the California Energy Commission and has since worked for the California Department of Water Resources and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).



Shukky is a member of the Professional Engineers in California Government and chaired its K-12 STEM Committee (San Diego Section). She is the president of The Elevate School Foundation and serves on the board of Learnin’ Tots as a director. Shukky is passionate about boosting STEM literacy in primary and secondary education. As a result of this passion she has served the San Diego County Engineering Council in various capacities; most notably her involvement with the council's K-12 STEAM Contest from inception.As a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Shukky enjoyed mentoring 3rd - 5th graders in Sacramento through NSBE’s Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) program. 


Shukky Sanni holds a Bachelor's and Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University Sacramento (CSUS) with an emphasis in public policy and transportation. In her spare time she enjoys researching and discussing social issues and learning about other cultures. Her favorite mode of transportation is transit.
