Simren Kaur (she/her)

Administrative Coordinator, Three Sisters Gardens

Simren is the Administrative Coordinator for Three Sisters Gardens, an Indigenous-led urban farming nonprofit that is dedicated to empowering youth impacted by the justice system and cultivating food sovereignty. She is also a current Master’s student at the University of San Diego where she studies Engineering, Sustainability, and Health. Simren received her Bachelor’s from USD in 2019 with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience and a minor in Physics. She has always had a passion for studying the intersections of different fields and investigating the ways in which they complement and overlap. She began her career in the nonprofit sector at a health-based startup that was focused on addressing the preventative care gap in the medical system but pivoted to Three Sisters Gardens as she was drawn toward community-based work.

This interest also drew her to the Sunrise Movement and led to her involvement in the San Diego hub’s climate justice efforts. As the Campaign Lead, she coordinates the hub to run a catalyzing campaign for green social housing in San Diego county. Connecting with folks working on similar campaigns and youth organizers nationwide sparks her creativity and passion to leave this world better than she found it. She is passionate about climate justice and striving toward collective liberation by dismantling systems of oppression. In her free time, Simren enjoys spending quality time with her pets, appreciating nature and the outdoors, attending concerts, and reading as much as she can.
