Sierra Graves (she/they)

Sierra Graves is serving as the Director of Tribal Affairs and Tribal Liaison for the California Energy Commission. In this role she works in partnership with California Native American Tribes on important energy policies including SB100 offshore wind wave and tidal energy lithium valley and siting projects. Additionally Sierra works to make clean energy funding available to tribes for projects like microgrids and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Her work is rooted in supporting tribal energy sovereignty and building spaces for participation. 


Prior to her role at the state, Sierra worked in Public Health at the County of San Diego serving as the Outbreak Operations Manager during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sierra also brings expertise from time in the private and non-profit sectors. 


Sierra earned her AA in Social and Behavior Sciences from San Diego Miramar College, her BA in Political Science/ International Relations with minors in Law and Society and Environmental Studies, and her MPA in Public Administration from San Diego State University. 


Sierra is committed to public service and serving the greater San Diego region that is her home.
