Abdel Amador II (he/him/él)

Abdel’s experience expands across multiple institutions, departments and initiatives within higher education across California. With a background in residential education, housing new student and parent programs, and institutional initiatives, he has positively impacted countless students and their families. Whether in his formal role or beyond, Abdel is deeply committed to addressing inequalities and advocating for underrepresented populations. He has an affinity to elevate Latinx individuals, especially in his current role he serves as the Assistant Director for the Office of Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Affairs at San Diego State University. 

His passion for working with college students and higher education institutions stems from his own journey as a first generation Latino when he graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Chicano Studies. He then received his Master of Arts in Post Secondary Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Student Affairs from San Diego State University. 

In his free time he enjoys walking his dog, playing the ukulele (while still working on learning the saxophone), exercising and dining out with friends.
